Welcome to Villa Chara !
Villa Chara is situated on the Ammouliani island in the peninsula of Chalkidiki.
It is just 10 meters away from the sea which you can reach in just a few steps, and it has a magnificent view of the Holy Mountain and quick access to all the unique beaches of the island. Excursions to the Holy Mountain and the surrounding islands are organized on a daily basis by boats from the village port (More information here).
Enjoy peaceful holidays on the fantastic hidden island of a gem Ammouliani, in the northern Aegean Sea, with crystal clear beaches, at Villa Chara with view of the Holy Athos mountain.
Layout:
First floor 55 m2 with kitchen and living room, convertible sofa, one single bedroom (no AC), WC with a shower, spacious patio-terrace with direct view to the sea, Ouranoupoli and mount Athos.
Sitting room with a marble fire place and a 43" smart TV with Chromecast. Big yard with tile floor and deck chairs.
2nd floor:
The internal wooden stairs lead to the second floor of 55 m2, which has three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large one with a glass shower and a smaller one with a curtain shower.
Balconies with beautiful views in 2 of the bedrooms, air conditioning in all rooms, sitting room and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and if you think you might have forgotten to bring something, it just might be there! There is also a large fridge and a freezer. It is not a bad idea to bring your own food, as it will surely make you feel like you are living in your own home. Our Internet connection has been recently upgraded with average speeds of 30-45 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload and the wi-fi covers the entire villa. We are hopeful that in the coming weeks the house will be connected directly to a fiber optics line with a steady 50-50 Mbps line.
The Village:
Walking routes on the island that reveal countless beaches and small ports. Inside the village, the arsanas, the Folklore Museum, the narrow streets and the beautiful church of Agios Nikolaos built on the large square at the top of the village.
Every day a boat departs from the island for the tour of Mount Athos. A cruise that lasts three hours and reveals the imposing monasteries hooked on huge rocks.
Excursions to the Drenia islands by renting small boats or with the tourist boat "Labrini". An exotic landscape ideal for diving, fishing, swimming and endless relaxation in the white sand and emerald waters.
As the population density of the island is quite low, there are plenty of opportunities to put on your hiking clothes and explore the narrow dirt roads of the island which are mainly used by the local farmers and swineherds. We promise you will not get lost.
Outside the island and in short distances:
Ouranoupoli and the Byzantine Tower, a charming settlement directly opposite the island. Ouranoupoli is the last border before the monastic state of Mount Athos, while right on the border is the ancient monastery of Zygos, which can also be visited by women. A luxury which unfortunately is only reserved for men, is a visit / trip to the various monasteries of Mount Athos, which for the vast majority of the people that foretake it is almost always described as a life changing experience, whether they be Christians or not. The monks are very kind and hospitable and embrace every human that visits.
Ancient Stageira, the birthplace of Aristotle in the settlement of Olympiada, an archaeological site of utmost importance is located in one of the most beautiful spots of Chalkidiki.
There is a separate apartment on the ground floor of the villa (pictured on the last photographs), with 2 bedrooms, living room with full kitchen, AC and TVs in both rooms and the living room.
It is available to accommodate larger parties at an extra charge. It might also be used by different parties at our discretion. It can accommodate 4-5 adults or 4 adults and 2 children.
The main villa can accommodate 6 to 8 people. It is located at the exit of the village towards the beaches of the island and has direct access to the shops and restaurants which is a few minutes walk.
There is a doctor, a Health Center and a Pharmacy on the island. Most transportation is being done on foot, but access to some of the more distant beaches requires a car, which we strongly suggest you bring with.
About 200 meters south-east from the house there is a quiet little beach very friendly for children, which lets you watch over them from the balcony of the house if you so decide to let them go for a swim on their own. The water is always calm and shallow. and gets slightly deeper very gradually.
